Getting Ready for the Journey - Tuesday, November 9, 2004
Home-base, Tel Aviv, Israel. Three weeks to go before my family's first trip to India. My husband Martin and our 12 year-old daughter Ariele feel safe having me as a guide since it will be my fourth trip to India. Do they realize that I am as excited as they are and that each trip is an open invitation to the unknown - especially in India where God laughs at our plans (as the saying goes).
Still, I have built an itinerary for a "soft" landing and India experience, feeling somewhat responsible for this introduction to my favorite country on earth.
OK, I know that I am not really responsible for how they will experience India, but, after seeing the itinerary and the hotels carefully chosen in the South of India, my husband said to me with a wicked smile "we will be the only family who comes back from India saying that it was expensive!"
I am exploiting the opportunity to travel with husband and child to revel in more luxury that I have been used to in my other trips to India. Ah, the comfort of a colonial villa in Pondicherry (after sleeping on a cotton mattress on the floor of the Sai Baba ashram in Puttaparthy in my first trip - but that is another story).
In my next entry, since I will be sharing the countdown with you all, I will expand on the plans (ha ha ha) for our three week stay in Southern India.
Shalom, Namaste, JaiGuruDev
