Sunny Isle of Skye - Sunday, March 10, 2002
It was my first trip to Scotland, and it was amazing! My wife and I were still dating at the time. I lived in Playa Del Rey, California and she lived in Oxford, England. I know, crazy long distance love affairs...
So let's see, I flew over from L.A., we drove to a small field outside of London (nearly getting lost), parked in some dark industrial looking area that was actually a pay lot, took a shuttle bus to the terminal, boarded Easy-Jet I think it was, flew to Glasgow, hired a car and drove to Skye.
Loch Ness was pretty cool, but we didn't see Nessie, and the Scottish Highlands were amazing! Think beautiful mountain peaks, jumbled over icy little streams and greenery, with a light misting of snow and wispy fog.
Skye itself was a salve for the soul. The island is small, the roads narrow and the people friendly. The weather cooperated perfectly (I wore shorts and a t-shirt most of the time). We stayed at the Flodigarry, and aside from a small mishap with an electric heater melting our carpet and stinking up the place, it was wonderful.
The other guests were friendly, the views lovely and the food fantastic! Mmmmmmmm!
