Making it Happen - Wednesday, May 24, 2006

In exactly 98 days I shall board an Emirates flight from Perth to Dubai and then onto London which is the first stage of my trip to the tiny Pyrenean principality of Andorra.

Why not go straight to Andorra you might ask? The simple answer is that you can't. The only way into Andorra is by road from either France or Spain. So why not fly to the closest airport? Because organising a flight to Barcelona from Perth turned out to be easier said than done and as I had a limited window of opportunity as far as travel dates went it turned out to be easier to fly to London and work it out from there.

After arriving at Heathrow on the 25th May, I get half a day to recover before catching a very early morning Easyjet flight to Barcelona. The rest of the way is by bus and with any luck I should arrive in Arans by 4.30pm.

The village of Arans is situated in the Vallnord region at just over 1,300 metres, in the heart of ski territory. Not being interested in either snow or skis I elected to visit in Spring, and will keep my fingers crossed that the snow doesn't linger! Being from Western Australia anything below 22 degrees Celsius is cold to me, so the current temperature of 6 degrees C. is food for thought.

It's been a challenging few months co-ordinating a trip for two people who live at opposite ends of the globe but now it's done. All that's left is for me to get there and hopefully share my experience online.
