Hello all my beloveds!!!
As you all know, in one week we are finished with training (next Friday we swear in). I will try to catch you up to speed on the most recent news, since Ratty's letter he is writing as I am typing will get to you in two weeks or longer. First, we received a book from Uncle Steve and Auntie Frosti (The Botany of Desire), which we haven't had a chance to fight over who gets the first read since we are so extremely overworked. (run on sentence? oh well). Second, we received a package from Judy Hayden and Chris Melotti that was filled with wonderful Americana that we will enjoy for a long-time to come. Third, we miss you all sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. This past week has taught us a lot about the importance of patience with each other and that we can't wait till training is over. The Peace Corps training logistics has much to be desired, and I am starting to mentally prepare for being treated as the "wife" (all lowercase)!!! But, alas enough of my griping, I wouldn't be anywhere else in the world right now. When I greet Bamaama in the morning and we exchange a few words in Tonga, and I see the kindness in her eyes, I realize I have a lot to learn (but maybe something to also pass along). My time is limited-- Ratsy, Matt (another PC trainee) and I are all caught up in the bureacracy of the Zambian government today. NOTE: when someone in a government office suggest a time to come for an appointment, be suspicious, it's doubtful they will show up. Love to you all, and HUGS KISSES!!! JP
