Scary Landing in Paris - Thursday, January 7, 1993

[copied from old travel diary]

I'm here. The landing was really scary. It was so foggy out the Swiss girl I was sitting next to and I couldn't even see the wing of the plane. We couldn't even see the light at the end of the wing. Anyway, the pilot was saying to prepare for landing and we were still looking for some sight of the Earth. Suddenly the girl, Isabelle gasped really loud. I looked out the window and saw what looked like a polutted cloud whiz by, another went by and I saw grass, then we hit the runway all in the space of a second or less. The plane squirelled a little sideways a couple times, but then we settled into a nice easy forward roll and everyone started clapping. I clapped a little, but felt it more appropriate to wait until I was off the plane, there I just clapped. I got a lot of free hooch from the plane, but overall the trip lagged. Shelly wasn't there when I walked out into the airport. I was of course the one person who had his passport checked, but I was wondering why noone ever looked through my bags, I mean how accurate can the x-rays be? I'm here in Lyon though, only a million train rides later, including one on the TGV where I of course took a dump. I think Rat would be happy about that. There's a lot of cool graffitti in Paris, and the view out our window here in Lyon, is cool, lots of tile roofs and antennas. I'll try to draw a picture of it.
