Visiting Queensland - Thursday, August 15, 2002
I went to Queensland, Australia several years ago. I ended up going to Surfer's Paradise in the state of Queensland. I spent 2 weeks there and that wasn't long enough. I hope to return and spend 2 - 3 months. There is so much to explore, from the outback to the great barrier reef, I barely touched the surface when I went, and every day was busy.
I always wanted to see a Sea World, and I had one a block from our hotel. It didn't take too long before we spent the day there. We took the opportunity to fulfill one of gf's lifelong dreams of swimming with a dolphin. I of course volunteered to take the pictures.
The first 5 days were hectic. as I did not intend to leave one minute wasted. The first day after our arrival we went to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary which contains 27 hectares of land with koalas, kangaroos, and much more.
That same days we went to Tropical fruit world, and walked around the rainforest. The day after I did a little bit of business, and we went to Ripley's Believe it or not Museum. That same week we went to Underwater World, which involved a huge tunnel that you could walk through with sea turtles, sharks, manta rays, coral reef, and fish underneath, overtop, and surrounding you. We went to movie world (movie based theme park), the Australia Zoo (owned by Steve Irwin), & humpback whale watching. There's a lot of other stuff that we did, we visited multiple animal sanctuaries including the largest Kangaroo sanctuary in Australia, which is located in Brisbane, Queensland. We also went to Ekka which is similar to the Calgary Stampede but 4-5 times larger.
